Episode 007
After running a construction company with her husband for 15 years, including during the housing crisis of 2008, Jennifer Edwards really know’s what it takes to run a successful business. When she consults with her clients who are starting new businesses, she tells them the truth about what it takes to get started, how much money they need to have saved before they quit their day job (It’s probably more than you think!), and how to avoid having commission breath when talking to new prospects.
"There are lots of days when entrepreneurship is the best. It's the best! There is no better feeling than being your own boss.
There are some days when you would give anything to have someone telling you what to do because you are so lost and you don't know what the next step is."
In this episode Jennifer and I have a candid conversation about how to “drop back and punt”, the importance of having a “business bestie” to talk to and share ideas with, and how critical it is to understand when it’s time to reach out for help.
Jennifer Edwards is the owner of Direction Entrepreneurial Solutions and can be contacted via LinkedIn.
Costumes
When my guest chooses not to dress up, I like to select a costume that will make them smile when they see it. Jennifer had a good laugh at my prairie get up when I first turned on my video. Not sure if it’s visible in the video, but I was particularly impressed with her dark purple nail polish.
